China's total textile and apparel exports to ASEAN reached US$26.66 billion in 2012, accounted for 10.5% of total exports and expanded 2.5 percentage points from 2011. Meanwhile, exports increased 34.2% year on year. Chinese textile information portal CCFGroup reports that ASEAN has replaced the European Union to become the main strength to boost overall export growth.
According to Chinese customs statistics, China’s total volume of textile and apparel trade in 2012 reached US$279.44 billion, an increase of 3.1% year on year, of which, exports fetched US$254.98 billion, an increase of 2.8% when compared with the previous year. Meanwhile, imports recorded US$24.46 billion, an increase of 6.2%.
With regard to commodity exports, among textiles, export volumes of yarn and fabrics increased by 7.6% and 3.3%, respectively. Among them, cotton yarn increased by 13.9%, cotton fabrics increased by 2.9%. But export prices of cotton yarn and cotton fabrics fell 15.1% and 7.1% respectively.
