China’s home clothes market growing by 30% annually

Even though most consumers do not pay much attention to home clothing, it does not hinder the rapid growth of this market in China, where the annual consumption of home clothes amounted to over RMB 10 billion, with an annual growth rate of over 30%. It has become the fastest growing apparel segment in China.

Unlike OEM garments, home clothes produced in China are mainly for domestic consumption, and therefore, less influenced by exchange rate and trading fluctuation.

Despite the positive outlook, however, China’s home clothes sector is facing the audemars piguet replica problems of lacking design quality and a well-established retail network.

It is estimated that only about 20% of home clothes designers in China are fully dedicated to this category of products. Besides, only 10% of retail shops specialize in home clothes, while majority of the home clothes are being sold through underwear shops.

Home clothing is a type of goods that projects cozy, happy and homely feelings to consumers. With adequate plans, manufacturers and retailers could create new market opportunities.
