US: AAFA Publishes release 8 of the latest restricted substance list

The American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) has recently published the latest version (Release 8) of their Restricted Substance List (RSL).

Some of changes include:
•Flame retardants may not be used in restriction column for Tris (2,3-dibromopropyl) phosphate (TRIS), Bis (2,3-dibromopropyl) phosphate, and Tris (1- aziridinyl)-phosphine oxide (TEPA).
•Added Canada as one of the countries with lead in surface coating restriction.
•Nickel (Release) under “Restrictions to Metal Parts.
•Added “Restriction only in cases where there is direct and prolonged contact with skin” to the previous requirement.
•Added “Restriction only in cases where there is direct and prolonged contact with skin” to the previous requirement.
•Added “Restriction only in cases where there is direct and prolonged contact with skin” to the previous requirement.
•Added Canada and Denmark as countries with phthalate restrictions.
•The list of SVHCs has been updated to the latest version of the candidate list with 46 substances.
The latest version of the restricted substance list was prepared by a panel of professionals within the Environmental Task Force of AAFA. This RSL intends to provide up-to-date information on regulatory requirements, relating to home textile, apparel and footwear products, from various countries around the world.
