Five apparel production centres located in different parts of Taiwan will go operational at the end of this month in order to boost the country’s garment industry, sources reported.
“All the five centres concentrate on different aspects of the garment industry. For instance, the Wanhua center in Taipei will be specialised in creativity and innovation, and will be developed into an incubation center for promising fashion designers,” said Lin Chun-huai, an official at the Ministry of Economics Affairs’ Industrial Development Bureau.
Meanwhile, the Taichung City-based centre will focus on shoes and bags, while those in Yunlin counties will concentrate on socks and towels, whereas Taipei will be specialised in rapid prototyping clothing.
The authority also expects the new production centres will create a cluster effect with existing factories in these locations.
