Latest statistics reveal that during January to November of 2011, China's garment exports reached US$139.8 billion, up by 19.6% year on year.
During this period, China exported US$25.9 billion worth of garments to the US, up by 11.6% year on year. This percentage decreased by 16 percentage points compared with the growth rate of the same period of 2010. China's garment exports to the EU and Japanese markets were relatively better, respectively amounting to US$38.42 billion and US$20.26 billion, up by 22.6% and 21.1% year on year. Besides, the growth rates of China's garment exports to countries such as Russia, Korea and the UAR were between 22% and 29%.
In the first 11 months of last year, the total volume exports of garments from China saw a drop of 7%, while the unit prices were up by 28.5%. In particular, knitted garment exports were valued at US$65.19 billion, up by 20.9%, with a slight drop in export volume (-0.4%) and a rise in unit price (+21.3%). Woven garment exports amounted to US$54.81 billion in value, up by 17.3%, with growth also seen in export volume (+3.7%) and unit price (+21.7%).
Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai were the top four Chinese provinces in garment exports. Of them, Jiangsu's garment exports grew by 20.9%, while the growth rates of the other three provinces were somewhere between 15% and 18%.
Moreover, the monthly growth rate of Fujian's garment exports was kept in excess of 40% since the beginning of 2011, enabling it to surpass Shandong as the country's fifth largest Chinese province in garment exports. Shandong went down to the sixth place with exports up by 24.1%.
